The Securex Family has always been in the business of putting smiles on peoples’ faces, and this was certainly the case when the Securex team brought cheer to the Junction Mall on 27th and 28th February, 2016. Securex Agencies (K) LTD pitched camp at the popular mall on Ngong Road for two days for an educational drive, with the main aim being to interact with existing and potential clients on how to keep themselves and their loved ones safe. We took the opportunity to showcase some of our products and services, something which proved to be particularly popular when one of our Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD), Skaga Kelly, spent the entire Saturday and Sunday afternoon at our stand.
Skaga Kelly and her handler Eric put on quite the show for shoppers at the mall as she performed a few obedience tricks and posed for photos with curious onlookers. The highlight of the weekend was when Kelly did a demonstration on explosive-detection. We hid a small IED at the entrance of the mall and Kelly managed to find it within 59 seconds! Kelly took 32 and 80 seconds in subsequent demonstrations. It was also a wonderful opportunity to share tips on how to do basic obedience training for pets as well as guard dogs.
As an added bonus, we also had a raffle draw with the top prize being a Keyguard Jupiter Security Safe from Burton Safes (UK). Dr. Kigen Morumbasi was selected as the lucky winner after a random draw, and was presented with the award during a brief ceremony held at the Securex House in Parklands. Dr. Morumbasi is a lecturer of International Relations and Security Studies from the Technical University of Kenya.
We enjoyed talking to Dr. Morumbasi as well as other shoppers at the Junction, and we look forward to seeing you at our next educational drive in April!
